Bio

Kathleen O’Connell is an educator, printmaker, book artist, type and lettering enthusiast, seasoned traveler, recent mother and stepmother, amateur garden grower, perpetual organizer, and former ferry boat deckhand—all of which inform her artworks and artistic practice. She is a tenured Associate Professor (Print Media) in the Department of Art and Design at Middle Tennessee State University.

For over a decade she has collaborated with artists/studios in Lima, Peru, including multiple international artist’s book projects with Cristina Dueñas (through Taller 72 and TRESS.Taller de Grabado). O’Connell’s collaborations include several series of prints with longtime friend/mentor, Diane Fine. Her artworks have been exhibited nationally and internationally, and are part of the collections at the University of California–Berkeley, University of Wisconsin–Madison, Vanderbilt University, Yale, and the Target Corporation, among others.

Kathleen O’Connell was born and raised in Plattsburgh, New York. She holds a BFA degree from SUNY Plattsburgh and an MFA degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
